Aval pongal / poha pongal - quick Breakfast

Pongal is a pure south Indian recipe.. made for a special festival Pongal

There are two flavours of pongal a sweet & a savoury..
But there are many varieties in both the flavours..

Aval pongal is a twist of taste recipe..
A very quick Breakfast.

Normaly aval or poha cooks really fast, so it is really easy to make a quick Breakfast..

Boiling moong Dhall, mixing it along with sauted spices and washed poha.. with rich flavours of ghee & cashews..
Make the recipe tastes fantabulous...

Ingredients :

. Poha 2 cup
. Moong Dhall 1/2 cup
. Water : 2 cup
. Ghee : 2 +1 tblspn
. Turmeric 1/2 tspn
. Salt : as required
. Cumin seeds 1 tspn
. Pepper corns 2 tspn
. Hing 1/2 tspn
. Curry leaves
. Crushed ginger 1/2 tspn
. Cashew 10 +

Side dish : sambar and chutney


Method :

Step 1
. Take a pan, dry roast moong Dhall


Step 2
. Trasfer it to a bowl and enough water.. wash & rinse it thoroughly

Step 3
. Boil water in a pressure cooker and turmeric and salt and the washed moong dhall allow 3 whistles

Step 4
. Heat a pan or a kadai..

Step 5
. Add ghee, cumin, pepper corns, hing, curry leaves, & ginger saute for a min

Step 6
. Wah poha 2- 3 times.


Step 7
. Squeeze out the excess water from the poha add it into the pan.. stir well..

Step 8
. Add the boiled moong dhall into this and mash & mix all together..


Step 9
. Roast few cashews in ghee and add it over the pongal..

Step 10
. Creamy, fantastic superfast pongal ready to taste..
