Bitter-less bitter gourd - south Indian poriyal - pavakai poriyal

Hi there...

Here is a trick to reduce bitterness in bittergourd..


This is how i make bittergourd poriyal...

Ingredients :
. Bittergourd : 3-4
. Onion : 2
. Oil - 2 tblspn
. Turmeric : 3/4 tspn
. Chilli powder : 1/2 tspn
. Coriander powder : 1 tspn
. Mustard : 3/4 tspn
. Cumin : 3/4 tspn
. Bengal gram : 3/4 tspn
. Hing : 2 pinch
. Curry leaves : few

Serve : 1 bowl

Method:

Step 1
. Wash the bittergaurd.. cut the edges, scrape the outer rough surface..
. Cut into two half and deseed it..
( You can add the middle part if you like)
. Wash it thoroughly...

Step 2
. Heat a frying pan... Add oil, add Mustard, cumin, Bengal gram, curry leaves, hing saute well

Step 3
. Add sliced onions, give a stir immediately add sliced bittergourd into the pan ..

Step 4
. Let it cook for 7-8 mins in medium flame, give a stir at regular intervals...

Step 5
. Once the bittergourd gets soft & well cooked, add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder... Mix well...

Step 6
. Let it cook for another 3 mins ...


Bitter-less bittergourd is ready...
By scaping the sides it reduces the bitterness... And the Sweet ness from the onions adds a mild sweet tastes...

Healthy bitter gourd poriyal is ready...
