Ingredients :
. Raw rice : 1 cup
. Moong dhal : 1/2 cup
. Jaggery : 1 & 1/2 cup
. Water : 5 & 1/2 cup
. Ghee : 3 tblspn
. Cashew : 15
. Raisin : 15
. Cardamon powder : 1 tblspn
. Salt : a pinch
Method :
Step 1
. Take a pan dry roast moong dhal for 2 min in medium flame.
Transfer it to a bowl...
Step 2
. In the same bowl add rice... Let the both soak in water for 8-10mins
Step 3
. Heat a pressure cooker add 5 cups of water. Salt add the soaked rice & dal... Cook & cook.. allow it for 4 whistles...
Step 4
. Heat a frying pan... add jaggery and 1/2 cup water and let the jaggery melt
Step 5
. Filter this jaggery syrup into the pressure cooker... Give a stir... Let it cook for 2-3 mins... Mash the rice & syrup..
( I dont like mashing it too much.. so it have just made slight stir)
Step 6
. Heat a frying pan... Add 1 tblspn ghee add nuts and raisin to it.. let itt brown... Add it into the cooker...
Step 7
. Add cardamom powder and 2 tblspn of ghee and mix well...
Creamy delicious sweet Pongal is ready..
