South Indian kara chutney

Hi there...
Kara chutney is a south Indian side dish.. It is a basic chutney all south indian will make.. Here is my simplified easy version..

I make it mild spicy so my kids would enjoy it too..

Ingredients:
. Onion - 2
. Tomato - 2
. Garlic - 2
. Dried red chilli - 2
. Oil - to saute
. Mustard - 1 tspn
. Jeera - 1 tspn
. Urd dhall - 1 tspn
. Fry dhall - 1 tspn
. Tamarind - size of a small gooseberry
. Salt - to taste

Method:
Step 1
Slice both onions & tomatos.

Step 2
In a frying pan and 1 tablespoon of oil, when its hot add fry dhall & urud dhall..

Step 3
When it pops add onion, tomato. Garlic, red chillis, tamarind & salt.. Once gets softensoften. Turn off the flame..

Step 4
When it gets cool, transfer it into a mixer jar.. Grind it into a smooth paste..

Step 5
Transfer into a serving bowl..

Step 6
Lets do a tadka. In a small pan add 1 tablspoon of oil.. Add mustard, jeera and curry leaves.. When it pops..

Step 7
Pour the tadka over the chutney..

Step 8
Kara chutney is ready to serve with any type of dosa.. Tastes delicious..

Note: To make it spicy you can add 2 More chillies extra..
